Yango University was established in 2001 by Yango Holding Group which is one of the world's top 500 enterprises , and it is located in Fuzhou city which is a famous historical and cultural city in China(Address:No.99,Denglong Road,Mawei District, Fuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone). Its predecessor is Yango College of Fuzhou University, an independent college of Fuzhou University jointly organized by Fuzhou University (funded by national "211 Project") and Yango Holding Group. In 2015, it was approved by the Ministry of education in China and became a university set up independently. In 2016, it was approved as a pilot University for application-oriented transformation by the Provincial Department of education. In 2017, it was listed as a master’s degree cultivating candidate unit by the Provincial Department of education. At present, the university has developed into a multi-disciplinary university with economics, management and engineering as the main body, having 35 undergraduate majors and more than 10000 students. In the "2019 ranking list of private universities founded by two first-class universities in China" released by Airuishen China Alumni Association, Yango University has ranked the ninth in China and entered the ranks of China's first-class private universities.

The College of artificial intelligence (AI College), Yango University is the largest science and Engineering College under Yango University, which was founded in May 2019. At present, it has five departments (Department of computer and network engineering, Department of big data and software engineering, Department of intelligent robot Engineering, Department of information and communication engineering, Department of Internet of things engineering) and eight undergraduate majors(Computer Science and technology, data science and big data technology, Internet of things engineering, robotics engineering, electronic information engineering, communication engineering, network engineering and software engineering). At present, the college has 2276 undergraduates, 5 postgraduates and more than 80 full-time teachers (including more than 20 professors or doctors). The discipline construction of the college has also achieved remarkable results. At present, there are two provincial scientific research platforms - "Spatial data mining and Application Fujian University Engineering Research Center" and "Intelligent Business Big Data Engineering Research Center", one "next generation network national and local joint engineering laboratory - Yango University sub-laboratory" jointly funded with STAR-NET Ruijie(Fujian star network Ruijie Communication Co., Ltd), three school-level research institutes (Spatial Data Mining Research Institute, Big data application research center and Internet of things Application Research Institute),as well as Smart home laboratory, robot engineering laboratory and network security laboratory and other characteristic experimental platforms. In the past five years, the faculties have undertaken more than 60 national and provincial scientific research projects, published more than 80 academic papers (more than 30 indexed by SCI/SCIE/ EI), obtained more than 30 national patents and published 4 monographs. With the rapid development of science and technology and social economy, the demand of information technology talents is increasing. AI College will actively explore the discipline and professional fields, constantly optimize the personnel cultivation mode and improve the scientific research level, so as to make greater contribution to the construction of a high-level, international and innovative application Technology University.

Spatial Data Mining and Application Engineering Research Center of Fujian Province University (SDMAERC) was approved by the Education Department of Fujian Province (China) in June 2017 (Authorization number: MJK [2017] No. 33) and built depending on Yango University. It is a provincial scientific research innovation platform involving spatial data mining and application. Its main research and development direction includes three aspects: spatial data mining, indoor navigation and positioning, and intelligent spatial system. The research content includes three levels: basic research, application research and engineering research. It is of great significance to expand and strengthen the spatial information and data mining industry, serve the construction of smart city and smart campus, and promote the development of local economy. The construction of the engineering center has given full play to the advantages of interdisciplinary disciplines and promoted the integration of disciplines and resources related to spatial information. It has established cooperative relations with many enterprises and scientific research institutions, and has made a number of important scientific research achievements. Its ability to serve social and local construction has been continuously enhanced.
